'Bible (ASV) 10: 2 Samuel' Summary
The Books of Samuel tell the story of the transition from the period of the Judges to the establishment of the monarchy in Israel. It begins with Samuel, a prophet and judge, anointing Saul as the first king of Israel. However, Saul's disobedience to God's commands leads to his rejection. David, a young shepherd, is chosen by God to be the next king. He defeats Goliath, becomes a celebrated warrior, and eventually, after years of exile and struggle, is crowned king.
