'Bible (KJV) 15: Ezra' Summary
The Book of Ezra begins with the decree of King Cyrus of Persia, allowing the Jewish people to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple. A group of exiles, led by Zerubbabel, return to Jerusalem and begin the work of rebuilding the Temple. However, they face opposition from the local Samaritan population. Ezra, a Jewish scribe from Babylon, arrives in Jerusalem to help complete the rebuilding of the Temple. He brings with him a group of Jewish exiles and a copy of the Torah. Ezra reads the Torah to the people and they recommit themselves to following God's laws. Ezra also institutes a number of reforms, including the separation of the Jewish people from the Samaritans. The book ends with the completion of the rebuilding of the Temple and the restoration of the Jewish community in Jerusalem. The Book of Ezra is a story of faith and leadership. It tells the story of a group of people who, despite facing many challenges, were able to rebuild their community and restore their faith.Book Details
