Bilihild: A Tale of the Irish Missionaries in Germany, A.D. 703
'Bilihild: A Tale of the Irish Missionaries in Germany, A.D. 703' Summary
In the year 703 AD, the Christian missionaries in Germany faced a grave threat when the devout Herzog of Thuringia passed away. His successor, the pagan Herzog Hedan, and his mother, the fiercely heathen Geila, were determined to eradicate the Christian influence from their lands. Amidst this turmoil, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of Bilihild, a pious young Christian maiden. When Hedan fell deeply in love with Bilihild, he offered peace to the Christian subjects in exchange for her hand in marriage. Though her heart yearned for her beloved, Bilihild knew that her faith would be put to the ultimate test. Navigating the treacherous waters of a pagan court, she faced constant danger and opposition, especially from her jealous mother-in-law, Geila. Yet, through it all, Bilihild's unwavering faith and unwavering love proved to be a powerful force, inspiring those around her and ultimately challenging the very foundations of pagan rule.Book Details
