Biography of Mahommah G. Baquaqua

The autobiography of Mahommah Gardo Baquaqua, a former slave from West Africa. Baquaqua was sold into slavery in 1845 and worked in Brazil as a captive for two years. In 1847, he escaped from the slave ship in New York and eventually made his way to Canada. Baquaqua's autobiography is a unique and valuable account of the slave trade and the experiences of enslaved Africans in the Americas.
