'Caleb Williams or Things As They Are' Summary
Caleb Williams, an intelligent and ambitious young man, is hired as a personal secretary to Ferdinando Falkland, a wealthy and respected British squire. Caleb accidentally discovers a terrible secret from Falkland's past, but promises to keep it a secret. Despite Caleb's promise of silence, Falkland, obsessed with maintaining his reputation and social standing, becomes increasingly fearful that Caleb may reveal his secret and sets out to destroy Caleb's life. Caleb is forced to flee from Falkland's relentless pursuit, and the novel follows his harrowing journey as he encounters a series of obstacles and hardships, each encounter shaping his understanding of the world and the complexities of human nature.Book Details
