Attraversando i nove cieli, incontra santi, angeli e anime beate, ricevendo insegnamenti e rivelazioni sul divino. La sua ascesa è un percorso di purificazione e illuminazione, durante il quale Dante comprende il ruolo dell'amore divino come forza motrice dell'universo e la natura della Trinità.
