Fortunate Youth
'Fortunate Youth' Summary
Paul, a bright and ambitious young boy, grows up in poverty in London. He dreams of escaping his humble beginnings and making a name for himself. With the help of his mother and stepfather, he receives a good education and begins to rise through the ranks of society. Along the way, he makes powerful friends and enemies, and falls in love with a beautiful woman. But as Paul's success grows, so too does his awareness of the social and economic barriers that stand in his way. He must sacrifice his innocence, his family ties, and even his own sense of self in order to achieve his goals. Ultimately, Paul's journey is a cautionary tale about the price of ambition and the compromises we make in order to succeed.Book Details
