Heart Of Mid-Lothian

Heart of Mid-Lothian

by Sir Walter Scott

Heart of Mid-Lothian is an 1818 historical novel by Sir Walter Scott, set in Scotland in 1736, amidst the Porteous Riots. The novel tells the story of Jeanie Deans, a young woman who travels to London to seek a pardon for her sister Effie, who has been wrongly accused of murder. Along the way, Jeanie encounters a cast of characters from all walks of life, including lawyers, politicians, and even the King himself. Heart of Mid-Lothian is a complex and moving tale of love, loss, and redemption, and it is considered one of Scott's masterpieces.
