Horto
'Horto' Summary
Horto is the only book of poetry written by the North Rio Grande poet Auta de Souza, published in 1900. The manuscript, then called Dhálias, was prefaced by Olavo Bilac, who wrote the preface with the title of one of the poems in the work, O Horto, thus changing the title of the work. This second edition, published in Paris in 1910, includes 17 poems that had not been published in the first edition. Auta de Souza died at the age of 24 from tuberculosis, and her work is marked by a sense of religiosity, reflection on death, and the presence of nature.Book Details
