El séptimo libro de las Historias de Heródoto describe la invasión persa de Grecia liderada por Jerjes I en el año 480 a. C. El libro comienza con la muerte de Darío I, padre de Jerjes, y los preparativos para la invasión. Jerjes reúne un enorme ejército y armada y se dispone a conquistar Grecia. Los griegos, liderados por los espartanos, se preparan para defender su patria.
