'Lonely House' Summary
The poem's speaker wanders through the house, encountering various objects and relics that hint at the lives of the people who once lived there. The speaker also encounters a number of ghostly figures, including a woman who is searching for her lost child and a man who is mourning the death of his wife. Through the course of the poem, the speaker comes to realize that the house is not simply a physical structure, but is also a repository of memories and emotions.
