In the wake of a nuclear explosion, a group of survivors on a ranch in Nevada must learn to adapt to their new, irradiated world. Led by the resourceful Hetty Thompson, the group includes the handy Barney Hatfield and the ambitious Johnny Culpepper. As they struggle to find food, water, and shelter, they must also contend with the strange and dangerous effects of the radiation, which have begun to transform the local wildlife.
