'Mildred and Elsie' Summary
Mildred Keith returns home from visiting her mother's relatives and continues to grow in wisdom and beauty. She receives many proposals of marriage, but she is waiting for the right man to come along. When Horace Dinsmore and his daughter Elsie visit, Mildred is immediately drawn to Horace. He is a kind and intelligent man, and Mildred can see that he would make a wonderful husband. However, Mildred is not the only one who is interested in Horace. Elsie is also attracted to him, and she is determined to win his heart. Mildred and Elsie are both good women, and they both deserve to be happy. But only one of them can have Horace.
