'Missing' Summary
Nelly Sarratt, recently married to Lieutenant George, finds herself facing the unimaginable when she receives news of his disappearance in the trenches of France. With only the grim possibility of his death to cling to, Nelly finds herself adrift in a world where life goes on even as her own world has shattered. She seeks solace and support from her controlling sister, Bridget, who becomes a constant source of tension. In the midst of the war, Nelly encounters Sir William Farrell and his friend, Captain Marsworth, who offer her a glimpse of normalcy in the face of tragedy. Yet, as time passes and the war continues, the weight of uncertainty and the ever-present possibility of loss hangs over Nelly and her newfound companions. 'Missing' delves into the emotional turmoil of a young woman enduring the agonies of war while simultaneously confronting the realities of her own changing circumstances. As she navigates the complexities of her relationship with her sister, her newfound acquaintances, and the enduring hope for her husband's return, Nelly finds herself challenged to grapple with the profound consequences of war and the enduring power of the human spirit.Book Details
