by Fritz Leiber
'Night of the Long Knives' Summary
In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a lone wanderer named John stumbles upon a group of survivors. The group is led by a ruthless warlord named Jack, who has been terrorizing the countryside. John joins the group, hoping to find safety and a place to belong. But Jack's true nature soon becomes apparent, and John realizes that he must choose between his own survival and the lives of the innocent. As John struggles to survive in this violent and unforgiving world, he must also confront the dark side of human nature. The constant threat of death and violence has driven many of the survivors to the brink of madness, and they are willing to do anything to survive.
