Its avant-garde approach introduced modernism to Portugal, inspiring a literary renewal. The magazine's contributors, later known as the “Orpheu Generation,” included renowned figures such as Fernando Pessoa, Mário de Sá-Carneiro, and Almada-Negreiros. “Orpheu No. 1” features a selection of poems, essays, and literary works by these prominent authors, showcasing the experimental and innovative spirit that characterized the early stages of Portuguese modernism.
