De roman 'Schat in het Zilvermeer' van Karl May speelt zich af in het wilde westen van Amerika in de jaren 1870. De hoofdpersonen, waaronder Old Shatterhand en Winnetou, zijn een groep jagers die op zoek gaan naar een schat verborgen in het Zilvermeer in de Rocky Mountains. Op hun gevaarlijke reis worden ze geconfronteerd met een bende zwervers onder leiding van de schurk Cornel Brinkley, die bekend staat als 'Rode Cornel' vanwege zijn rode haar. Cornel en zijn bende terroriseren de omgeving door boerderijen en treinen te overvallen. De jagers moeten al hun vaardigheden inzetten om de bende te verslaan en hun plannen te verijdelen. Tijdens hun tocht door het woeste landschap worden ze geconfronteerd met talloze gevaren, van wilde dieren tot vijandige indianen. Ze leren echter ook de schoonheid van de natuur kennen en de waarde van vriendschap en loyaliteit. Uiteindelijk slagen ze erin om de schat te vinden, maar het is de reis en de confrontatie met het kwaad die hen het meest heeft gevormd.Book Details
