Questions 90-114 of the Prima Secundae (\"First-half of the Second Part\" of Summa Theologica) comprise Treatises on Law and Grace. Law, according to Aquinas, is an ordinance of reason promulgated by a superior for the common good. Law can be either eternal (existing in the mind of God), natural (derived from human nature), or human (created by human authority). Grace is a gift from God that helps us to live in accordance with the law. Aquinas argues that grace is necessary for salvation, but that it does not destroy free will.
