Justin Blake, a young man with a reserved nature, finds himself drawn into an unexpected adventure when he accepts an invitation to spend the Christmas holidays with his old schoolmate, Tom Temple, and his family in Yorkshire. During his journey, he encounters Miss Forrest, a captivating woman who sparks his interest. However, their idyllic Christmas plans are disrupted by the arrival of the enigmatic Herod Voltaire, whose presence casts a shadow over the festivities.
