Widow's House

by Sarah Orne Jewett

Set along the southern seacoast of Maine in the late 19th century, "Widow's House" is a moving and evocative novel about the lives of two widows, Mrs. Todd and Mrs. Blackett. After the death of their husbands, the two women find themselves drawn together by their shared grief and their love for the sea. Together, they create a makeshift family and find solace in each other's company. But their newfound happiness is threatened by the arrival of Mrs. Blackett's long-lost son, who brings with him a dangerous secret that could tear their fragile bond apart.
