Williwaw
by Gore Vidal
'Williwaw' Summary
In the midst of World War II, a U.S. ship traverses the unforgiving Arctic waters around the Aleutian Islands, braving the harsh storms and the chilling threat of the williwaw. Amidst the crew and a handful of passengers, simmering tensions and paranoia rise as the vessel is battered by relentless storms. The arrival of a mysterious passenger, a woman with a hidden past, further fuels the sense of unease. When a murder occurs, the ship becomes a microcosm of suspicion and fear, as the crew and passengers are forced to confront their own vulnerabilities and secrets. The investigation into the murder, led by a cynical naval officer, unravels a tangled web of motives and betrayals, revealing the dark undercurrents of human nature in the face of danger. As the storm rages on and the truth remains elusive, the ship becomes a vessel not only of passage but also of a psychological battleground, where the lines between sanity and madness blur.Book Details
