Adam and Eve
by John Milton
'Adam and Eve' Summary
Adam and Eve begins with a description of the creation of the world and the placement of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The poem then recounts the temptation of Adam and Eve by Satan, who disguises himself as a serpent. Eve eats the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and Adam follows suit. As a result of their disobedience, Adam and Eve are expelled from the Garden of Eden and are condemned to a life of toil and suffering. The poem ends with a vision of the Last Judgment, when Adam and Eve will be reunited and forgiven.Book Details
