Ball of Fat (Boule de suif) Version 2
'Ball of Fat (Boule de suif) Version 2' Summary
The story takes place in 1870, during the Franco-Prussian War. A group of travelers, including a prostitute named Boule de Suif, are making their way across occupied France. The travelers are a diverse group, including a wealthy couple, a nun, a democrat, and a journalist. Initially, the travelers are united in their hatred of the Prussians, but as their journey progresses, tensions begin to rise. Boule de Suif is ostracized by the other travelers because of her profession, and she is often treated with contempt. However, when the travelers are stopped by Prussian soldiers, Boule de Suif is the one who saves them. She agrees to sleep with the Prussian officer in charge in order to secure the group's safe passage. The other travelers are horrified by Boule de Suif's sacrifice, but they are ultimately grateful for her help. As the travelers continue on their journey, they begin to realize the error of their ways. They come to see Boule de Suif as a true heroine, and they vow to never forget her sacrifice.Book Details
