The Book of Numbers is divided into three parts. The first part (chapters 1-10) describes the census of the Israelites and their preparations for resuming their march. The second part (chapters 10:11-21:20) recounts the journey from Sinai to Moab, the sending out of the spies, and the subsequent exile into the wilderness for 40 years.
