Black Ivory
'Black Ivory' Summary
After a shipwreck on the East African coast, Jack, the son of a ship owner, and his friend Harry, a seasoned seaman, find themselves stranded in a region where the slave trade is still a brutal reality. They encounter a group of Arab slave traders and manage to hitch a ride on a captured dhow, escaping to Zanzibar. In Zanzibar, they find a way to finance their journey into the interior. Their journey takes them through dense jungles, where they encounter various tribes and face challenges, including a threat from a native chief. Along their travels, Jack and Harry meet a sympathetic missionary who introduces them to the horrors of the slave trade firsthand. The story culminates in a dramatic encounter with the slave traders, who are ultimately captured by the British navy. Throughout their adventures, the two friends demonstrate resilience, resourcefulness, and a strong sense of justice, showcasing the complexities of the struggle against the slave trade in the 19th century.Book Details
