When Esther Cripps, the younger sister of the Carrier, Zacchary Cripps, witnesses the suspicious disposal of a body, she sets in motion a chain of events that will challenge her family's way of life. Russell Overshute, the suitor of the deceased, is convinced that there is more to the story than meets the eye, and enlists the Carrier's help in investigating the situation.
