Cyrano de Bergerac
'Cyrano de Bergerac' Summary
Cyrano de Bergerac is a proud and courageous swordsman, but he has one flaw: a very large nose. He is in love with the beautiful Roxane, but he is afraid to tell her because he thinks she will reject him because of his nose. Instead, he helps his handsome but dim-witted friend, Christian, to woo Roxane by writing him love letters. Roxane falls in love with Christian, but she does not know that Cyrano is the real author of the letters. Eventually, Cyrano's true feelings are revealed, and he and Roxane declare their love for each other. However, it is too late, as Cyrano is mortally wounded in a duel. The play ends with Cyrano dying in Roxane's arms, telling her that he has always loved her.Book Details
