Early Rising
'Early Rising' Summary
The poem begins with the speaker extolling the virtues of waking up early in the morning. He argues that early risers are more productive, healthier, and happier than those who prefer to sleep in. He then goes on to poke fun at those who are too lazy to get out of bed, calling them "sluggards" and "drones". The poem is full of clever rhymes and wordplay, and it is sure to amuse even the most reluctant early riser. Saxe's poem is a reminder that even the simplest of tasks can be made more enjoyable with a little bit of humor.Book Details
