Ebb-Tide

Ebb-Tide

by Robert Louis Stevenson

Three men, desperate and broke in Tahiti, seize a schooner whose officers have perished from smallpox. Their plan? To steal the vessel and its valuable cargo of champagne, sell them, and live a life of luxury. But their greed is fueled by the very champagne they plunder, leading to near disaster in a sudden storm. Their dream of wealth evaporates when they discover the deceased officers harbored the same ambition. Facing dwindling supplies in the vast Pacific, they stumble upon a hidden island, offering a glimmer of hope. However, this paradise harbors a secret – a lucrative pearl fishery – and the men's avarice, ever present, is rekindled. 'Ebb-Tide' delves into the depths of human desires, showcasing how even the most promising opportunities can be corrupted by greed and the relentless pursuit of fortune.
