El diálogo de Platón, *Eutifrón*, explora la naturaleza de la piedad a través de una conversación entre Sócrates y Eutifrón. Eutifrón intenta justificar su decisión de acusar a su propio padre por homicidio, alegando que está actuando piadosamente. Sócrates, en su característica forma cuestionadora, pone en duda la definición de piedad que ofrece Eutifrón, desafiando a Eutifrón a proporcionar una definición universal y coherente de lo que constituye un acto piadoso. La conversación se convierte en una exploración profunda de la ética y la moralidad, mientras que Sócrates cuestiona las creencias de Eutifrón sobre el deber religioso, la justicia y la virtud.
