Fanny's First Play
'Fanny's First Play' Summary
Fanny's First Play is a play by George Bernard Shaw about a young woman named Fanny O'Dowda who writes a play. She keeps her authorship a secret from her father, a count who hates the vulgarity of modern life. Fanny hires professional actors and invites some major critics to a performance of her play. However, her father finds out about the play and attends the performance, where he is shocked by its vulgarity. Fanny's play is a success, but her father disowns her. In the end, Fanny realizes that she must be true to herself and her art, even if it means losing her father's approval.Book Details
