'Homely Heroine' Summary
The title story, "Homely Heroine," introduces us to Louella, a plain and homely young woman who is anything but ordinary. Despite her lack of physical beauty, Louella possesses a quiet strength and determination that endears her to others. When tragedy strikes her family, Louella steps up and takes charge, proving herself to be a true heroine. In "A Bush League Hero," we meet George Connor, a young baseball player who dreams of making it to the big leagues. Despite his talent, George faces numerous obstacles, including prejudice and discrimination. However, he never gives up on his dream, and eventually, he achieves his goal. "What She Wore" tells the story of a young woman named Sally who is obsessed with her appearance. She spends all her time and money on clothes and makeup, hoping to attract the attention of a wealthy man. However, Sally's obsession ultimately leads to her downfall. In "The Man Who Came Back," we meet John Howard, a young man who returns home from war a changed man. He is haunted by the horrors he has witnessed, and he struggles to adjust to civilian life. However, with the help of his family and friends, John eventually finds his way back to happiness.Book Details
