Zorzi Ballarin and Angelo Beroviero, both skilled glassblowers of Murano, are rivals for the affection of the beautiful Marietta. However, their rivalry extends beyond love. Zorzi is a master craftsman, renowned for his innovative glassmaking techniques, while Angelo, a lesser talent, is consumed by jealousy. Angelo's resentment fuels his actions, leading him to betray Zorzi through a deceitful letter that brings Zorzi before the Council of Ten, the powerful governing body of Venice.
