'Melete' Summary
Melete is a collection of poems, prose, and a fairy tale that explores the themes of love, loss, and betrayal. The book was written by Karoline von Günderrode after her lover abandoned her, and she committed suicide. Her lover had the book destroyed, fearing that he would be recognized as the man she wrote about. A century later, the book was reconstructed from fragments, but it is incomplete.Book Details
