Melete

Melete

by Karoline von Günderrode

Melete by Karoline von Günderrode is a collection of poems, prose, and a fairy tale that explores the themes of love, loss, and betrayal. The book was written after Günderrode's lover abandoned her, and she committed suicide. Her lover had the book destroyed, fearing that he would be recognized as the man she wrote about. A century later, the book was reconstructed from fragments, but it is incomplete.
