In Book 19 of the Odyssey, Ulysses and Penelope are reunited after twenty years. Penelope has been waiting patiently for Ulysses' return, while Ulysses has been fighting in the Trojan War. When Ulysses finally returns home, he disguises himself as a beggar so that he can test Penelope's loyalty. Penelope does not recognize Ulysses at first, but she eventually realizes who he is. The two are overjoyed to be reunited, and they celebrate their reunion with a feast. However, their happiness is short-lived, as Ulysses must soon leave again to fight in another war.Book Details
