'Monastery' Summary
In the rugged Scottish Highlands, Elspeth, the widow of the Baron of Avenel, finds herself in a precarious situation after her husband's death. She takes refuge in her tower, where she is visited by the Baroness of Avenel and her daughter, seeking sanctuary from the turmoil of the times.
