'Rise of David Levinsky' Summary
David Levinsky is a young Jewish man who emigrates from Russia to the United States in the late 1800s. He arrives in New York City with little money and no knowledge of English. Levinsky finds work in a garment factory, where he is exploited by his boss. However, Levinsky is determined to succeed in America, and he eventually starts his own business. Levinsky's business becomes successful, and he becomes a wealthy man. However, Levinsky is never able to fully assimilate into American society. He remains an outsider, and he is always haunted by the memories of his life in Russia.Book Details
