'Symphonie pastorale' Summary
Le pasteur, un homme pieux et dévoué à sa famille, se retrouve confronté à un dilemme moral lorsqu'il recueille Gertrude, une jeune fille aveugle et non éduquée. Au fil du temps, un attachement profond se développe entre eux, nourri par la compassion du pasteur et l'innocence de Gertrude. Mais ce sentiment, qui oscille entre amour paternel et désir charnel, trouble le pasteur. Il se débat avec sa conscience, cherchant à concilier ses convictions religieuses avec ses sentiments interdits. Le récit explore la complexité des émotions humaines et les limites de la raison face à l'amour et à la foi. La cécité de Gertrude devient un symbole de l'aveuglement moral du pasteur, qui se retrouve pris au piège de ses propres contradictions. L'épouse du pasteur, Amélie, et leur fils, Jacques, sont également des personnages importants, chacun confronté à ses propres défis et à l'influence de la présence de Gertrude.
