Teddy's Button
'Teddy's Button' Summary
Teddy, a young boy, holds dear a button from his father's uniform, a tangible link to the heroic death his father met on the battlefield. He often recounts the story of his father's bravery, keeping the button close as a symbol of his father's valor. This treasured button becomes a source of tension when a new girl moves to town. The girl, unfamiliar with Teddy's grief and devotion to the button, challenges his constant reminiscing and creates friction between them. Through their interactions, Teddy begins to question the nature of heroism and his unwavering devotion to the button. He starts to realize that his father's bravery stemmed from a deep faith in God, seeing Christ as his ultimate commander. Teddy experiences a shift in his perspective, understanding that true heroism lies not in the battlefield, but in following Christ's example of love and compassion. He discovers the power of faith and finds solace in the image of Christ as his Captain, leading him on a path of healing and growth.Book Details
