Ihr Ziehvater, der Priester Atinas, beschließt eines Tages, sich den Christenverfolgungen anzuschließen und reist nach Rom. Tullus, getrieben von Neugier, folgt ihm gemeinsam mit Acca. In Rom geraten die naiven Jugendlichen zwischen die Fronten der alten und der neuen Religion.
