'Triumph of Bacchus and Ariadne' Summary
The poem opens with a description of Ariadne, who is sitting alone on the shore of Naxos, having been abandoned by Theseus, the hero who had promised to marry her. Bacchus finds her and falls in love with her, and the two are married. The poem then describes the wedding feast, which is attended by all the gods and goddesses.
