Der fliegende Holländer von Julius Wolff erzählt die Geschichte von Tyn van Straten, einem erfahrenen Seemann, der von einer Reihe unglücklicher Ereignisse verfolgt wird. Seine Schiffe geraten immer wieder in Stürme, er verliert seine Besatzung und sein Vermögen. Von der Verzweiflung getrieben, beschwört er den Teufel, ihm die Macht zu geben, die Meere zu beherrschen. Der Teufel erfüllt seinen Wunsch, doch mit einem schrecklichen Preis: Tyn van Straten ist fortan dazu verdammt, für immer auf den Ozeanen umherzufahren, ein geisterhafter Seemann, der für immer auf der Suche nach seinem Glück ist. Der Roman erzählt von seiner tragischen Geschichte, seinen Begegnungen mit anderen Seeleuten und seiner unaufhörlichen Suche nach Erlösung.Book Details
