Der fliegende Holländer von Julius Wolff erzählt die Geschichte von Tyn van Straten, einem erfahrenen Seemann, der von einer Reihe unglücklicher Ereignisse verfolgt wird. Der Teufel erfüllt seinen Wunsch, doch mit einem schrecklichen Preis: Tyn van Straten ist fortan dazu verdammt, für immer auf den Ozeanen umherzufahren, ein geisterhafter Seemann, der für immer auf der Suche nach seinem Glück ist.
