'Vorágine' Summary
La Vorágine is set against the backdrop of the rubber boom in the Colombian Amazon. The novel follows the ill-fated journey of Arturo Cova and Alicia as they travel deep into the rainforest in search of fortune. Along the way, they encounter a cast of characters who have been brutalized by the rubber trade, including indigenous people who have been enslaved and forced to work in the rubber plantations. Cova and Alicia's own journey is marked by violence, exploitation, and the harsh realities of life in the rainforest. As they struggle to survive, they come to realize the true cost of the rubber boom and the devastating impact it has had on the Amazon and its people.Book Details
