'Bola de sebo' Summary
Durante la guerra franco-prusiana, un grupo de viajeros, entre ellos un grupo de artistas y un sacerdote, se encuentran atrapados en una posada durante una tormenta. Un oficial prusiano les exige que una de las mujeres, una prostituta llamada "Bola de sebo", pase la noche con él para que puedan continuar su viaje. Los viajeros se enfrentan a un dilema moral. Algunos, por miedo al peligro, se muestran dispuestos a sacrificar a la mujer, mientras que otros, como el sacerdote, se oponen a la humillación que esto significa. La historia explora la naturaleza humana en situaciones de guerra y cómo la presión social puede llevar a comportamientos morales cuestionables. La protagonista, "Bola de sebo", inicialmente se resiste a la exigencia, pero luego decide sacrificarse por el bienestar del grupo, mostrando un acto de compasión y auto-sacrificio. Sin embargo, este acto de generosidad no es reconocido ni recompensado por el resto de los viajeros.
