The Book of One Thousand and One Nights is a frame story that tells the tale of King Shahryar, who, after being betrayed by his wife, vows to marry a new woman each night and have her executed the next morning. Scheherazade, a clever and resourceful woman, volunteers to be the king's next bride. Each night, she tells the king a story that is so captivating that he cannot bring himself to kill her. The stories continue for 1,001 nights, and by the end, the king has fallen in love with Scheherazade and spared her life.
