'David Copperfield, Version #' Summary
David Copperfield is born into a poor family in England in the early 19th century. His father dies before he is born, and his mother remarries shortly after. David's stepfather, Mr. Murdstone, is a cruel and abusive man who makes David's life a misery. After his mother's death, David is sent to a boarding school, where he is bullied and mistreated. He eventually runs away from school and makes his way to London, where he meets a series of colorful characters who help him to find his way in the world. David eventually becomes a successful writer and marries the love of his life, Dora Spenlow. However, tragedy strikes when Dora dies in childbirth. David is heartbroken, but he eventually finds happiness again with Agnes Wickfield, a childhood friend who has always loved him.Book Details
