'Dernier des Mohicans' Summary
L'histoire commence par l'arrivée de Cora et Alice Munro, deux jeunes sœurs, au fort William Henry avec leur père, le colonel Munro, qui commande la garnison. Le fort est assiégé par l'armée française menée par le général Montcalm, et les sœurs Munro sont prises en otage. Hawkeye, un trappeur et pisteur expérimenté, s'engage à les sauver, accompagné de l'Indien Uncas, le dernier de sa tribu Mohican. Pendant leur fuite à travers la nature sauvage, Hawkeye et Uncas doivent affronter les dangers de la forêt, les soldats français et les guerriers iroquois alliés aux Français. Leurs efforts pour sauver Cora et Alice sont compliqués par les sentiments amoureux qui se développent entre Cora et Uncas, et entre Alice et Hawkeye. Le roman culmine dans une bataille sanglante à Fort William Henry, où les défenseurs britanniques sont vaincus par les Français. Uncas est tué au combat, et Cora est exécutée par les iroquois.
