Don Karlos, Infant von Spanien is a dramatic poem by Friedrich Schiller. It tells the story of the titular character, Don Carlos, the son of King Philip II of Spain. Don Carlos is a young man of high ideals who is disillusioned with the court and the Spanish government. He falls in love with Elisabeth von Valois, the wife of his father, and the two of them plan to flee together. However, their plans are discovered, and Don Carlos is arrested and executed.
