Don Juan, Or The Feast With The Statue

Don Juan, or The Feast with the Statue

by Moliere

Don Juan, or The Feast with the Statue is a play by Molière that satirizes the libertine lifestyle and the hypocrisy of the upper class. The play's protagonist, Don Juan, is a wealthy and powerful nobleman who uses his position to indulge in his every desire. He is a womanizer, a cheat, and a murderer, but he is also a charming and witty man who is able to talk his way out of any situation. Don Juan's behavior eventually catches up with him, however, when he is confronted by the ghost of the Commander, a man he murdered. The ghost demands that Don Juan repent his sins, but Don Juan refuses and is dragged down to hell.
