Isobel

Isobel

by James Oliver Curwood

In the desolate and unforgiving reaches of northern Canada, Sergeant Billy MacVeigh and his partner Pelliter are the lone representatives of the Canadian Northwest Mounted. Their mission: to find the elusive murderer Scottie Deane and crack down on the illicit trade of Eskimo women. But when one of these traders shows up at their cabin, the two men find themselves embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. As they pursue Deane and his wife across the treacherous barrens, MacVeigh and Pelliter face near-death experiences, bitter cold, and the haunting specter of loneliness. Will they succeed in their mission, or will the icy grip of the wilderness claim them as its own?
